The Magical Kenya Open Golf championship organizers have received sponsorship boost worth Ksh.2Million from Crown Paints. The 2022 Kenya Open is set for March 3rd-6th at the Muthaiga Golf Club, Nairobi County.
The Ksh2 million donation will go towards upgrading the course.
The 2022 Magical Kenya Open, which is part of the DP World Tour, will bring together 156 golfers, including eight Kenyan professionals and six Kenyan amateurs, who will battle it out with their global competitors for a chance to win part of the $2 million prize.
Muthaiga Golf Club Chairman Ronald Meru said that the tournament will give amateurs a chance to play with professionals and at the same time offer fans a wholesome entertainment.
“We’ve also made elaborate plans by setting up a village which will be activated by Kenya Open Golf limited and sponsors to ensure golf fans and their families are well entertained by various local and international artists who will perform at the event,” said Meru.
Crown Paints Plc Chief Executive Officer Dr. Rakesh Rao said the tournament is a great opportunity to grow and develop golf in Kenya and adding that the sponsorship is part of the listed company’s commitment to promote sports and tourism in the country.
“Over the years we’ve been sponsoring golf in an effort to ensure that Kenya produces more golfers who are able to compete at the international level. This is why we are keen on promoting the development of the game particularly among the youth,” Rao explained.
This will be the third time that Magical Kenya Open will be held under the auspices of the DP World Tour – formerly the European Tour.
