Newly crowned Coast region basketball boys champions Dr. Aggrey High School has warned opponents to brace for fireworks at the National School Games set to begin this Friday in Nakuru.

Aggrey’s coach Kevin Aran who has guided the side to their first national tourney warned his opponents that they will be out to achieve their target of playing in the East Africa games to be held in Arusha Tanzania later this month.

Aggrey from Taita Taveta had an easy path to the title hammering Mombasa Baptist 81-23 in the final at the Shanzu Teacher College grounds.

“Proper planning and training has been our main secret and we are not stopping here because our target is Arusha,” said Aran.

His sentiments were echoed by Dungicha Secondary School coach Abel Sakwa whose side scooped both the men’s and women’s handball titles for their first time, firing a warning shot to their competitors to prepare for a fierce battle ahead.

They defeated Mvindeni boys and Kaya Tiwi, both from Kwale County in the boys and girls categories respectively.

“My players were waiting for this chance and we are going to Nakuru to compete.”

Other surprise winners were Vyambani Girls School who outshone St.Johns Kaloleni in an all Kilifi county affair volleyball affair, booking their inaugural ticket to national games as St.Georges and Matuga returned to the big stage after a while as hockey representatives.

The national games will be held in Nakuru County from September 8-13.
