The vocal Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has been suspended from the position over gross misconduct.

EALA MP Kanini Kega has been appointed the party’s Secretary General in acting capacity.

Also suspended is party Vice Chairman David Murathe who has largely kept a low profile after the August 9 polls.

“One of the reasons that led to Kioni’s suspension is his tendency to speak issues that do no reflect the position of the party,” said over 14 Jubilee party MPs who addressed the press during the National Executive Council meeting held in Nakuru.

“Pending the convening of the National Delegates Convention, the National Executive Committee commences the process of exiting the Azimio Coalition,” added the lawmakers who recently met President William Ruto at State House, Nairobi.

The National Executive Committee meeting was led by Chairman Nelson Dzuya and attended by Nominated MP Sabina Chege, EALA MP Kanini Kega, Eldas MP Adan Keynan and Joshua Kutuny among other leaders.

And few minutes after the lawmakers announced the suspension of Kioni, the party on its Twitter account indicated that the former Ndaragwa MP had received petitions to commence disciplinary action against four Jubilee MPs.

“SG Hon. Jeremiah Kioni has received petitions to commence disciplinary action against Hon. Kanini Kega, Hon. Sabina Chege, Hon. Fatuma Dullo and Hon. Adan Keynan. The same have been forwarded to the JP Disciplinary Committee for action,” read the statement.

“We are in receipt of a petition from one of our members of the party accusing you of among other things; acting in a manner disloyal to the Jubilee Party, advancing positions that are contrary to the position of Jubilee party, demonstrating lack of respect to the decision made by the Jubilee party and demonstrating lack of respect for the Jubilee party organs,” read a notification of a petition addressed to the four lawmakers.
