Environment, Climate Change and Forestry Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya today presided over the launch of a tree growing corporate partnership at Kinale Forest in Kijabe, Kiambu County.

The partnership dubbed ‘Climate Action Collaboration’ is led by Safaricom and targets to grow over 10 million trees across the country in five years as part of government’s 15 billion trees in 10 years agenda.

Other partners in Climate Action Collaboration include Kenya Forest Service, Absa and Huawei as well as Community Forest Associations (CFA) in areas where the partnership will be growing trees.

At the launch, where Safaricom unveiled an air quality monitoring application they’re developing, the Cabinet Secretary led staff of Safaricom, Absa, Huawei and other partner organizations in planting 300 trees in Kinale Forest.

The Cabinet Secretary was joined at the launch of the Climate Action Collaboration by Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi, Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa and Absa CEO Yusuf Omari as well as members of Kinale CFA.
