Trade, Investments and Industry Cabinet Secretary (CS) Moses Kuria on Thursday held virtual talks with United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai.

The two leaders conversed on ways to augment bilateral trade relations between Nairobi and Washington D.C. in line with the Kenya — United States Strategic Trade and Investment partnership inked on July 14, 2022.

“CS Kuria and Tai discussed opportunities to engage in the near future to pursue a strong working relationship that advances our common goals, including expanding bilateral trade with benefits that are broadly shared, inclusion of women, youth and others in trade, supporting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, as well as advancing the African continental trade integration,” the Trade Ministry said in a statement.

Kuria and Tai both noted that they would like to meet in person on the sidelines of the United States-Africa Leaders Summit which will be hosted in Washington in December.

Tai likewise congratulated Kuria for his recent appointment to the Ministry of Trade docket.

“She indicated that it was an honor to head the Presidential delegation to President Ruto’s inauguration on September 13, 2022, and to meet with him to learn his vision for Kenya,” said the Trade Ministry.
