Nyaribari Masaba MP Daniel Manduku.
- Judge Hedwig Ongudi has dismissed a petition challenging the legitimacy of Daniel Manduku’s win in the August 2022 race for Nyaribari Masaba’s MP race.
The High Court in Kisii on Friday upheld the election of Daniel Manduku as Nyaribari Masaba Member of Parliament.
This is after three other contestants who participated in the contest during the August 9 Elections filed a petition in court challenging the authenticity of his win. They were; Elijah Mosomi, Benard Ondari and Laban Chweya.
Judge Hedwig Ongudi, however, dismissed the petition on grounds that there was insufficient evidence to prove that Manduku did not win the contest fairly. He also ordered the petitioners to pay legal costs of Ksh. 20 million.
In the August 2022 polls, Manduku clinched Nyaribari Masaba’s parliamentary seat after garnering 16,303 votes.
NARK Kenya’s Mosomi managed 4,482 votes while Ondari and Chweya got 5,366 and 4,853 votes respectively.
