Isuzu East Africa has launched a new model of D-Max pick up in honour of world marathon record holder Eliud Kipchoge.
In an event held Tuesday morning at the Isuzu East Africa headquarters in Nairobi, the company unveiled a special limited edition of D-Max known as Eliud Kipchoge 1:59 in line with Kipchoge’s sub two-hour marathon of 1:59:40 he ran at the INEOS challenge in 2019.
Isuzu East Africa Managing Director Rita Kavashe said the new model is to celebrate the achievements of Kipchoge who recently lowered his world record by 30 seconds.

“We are celebrating him (Kipchoge) and therefore we are going to co create an Eliud Kipchoge D-max pick up 1:59 and the first 001 will be Eliud’s vehicle. That vehicle is to continue conversation that as country we need to appreciate the role of sports in terms of economic development, health and wellness and motivation of young people to take up sports,” Kavashe said.
Kipchoge hailed Isuzu for their long-term partnership also disclosing that he is still yearning for more success in his marathon career.
“I am really happy and excited since it has been a long partnership with Isuzu and for them to unveil this new model is an inspiration to the next generation and for corporate to recognize and award them.
“Breaking the world record is actually pushing the barriers and is one way of building my career,” said Kipchoge.
