The varsity’s council chairman Kennedy Ole Kerei who confirmed the development said Prof Chacha assumed office on Thursday, 20th January.

Prof Chacha takes over from the previous acting VC Prof Kitche Magak whose two-term tenure came to an end early this year.

Speaking during his induction, Prof Chacha pledged to work with the staff and address pertinent challenges facing the institution.

“I was the pioneer of this university (Maasai Mara Univerisity) and it feels great to be back here. I promise to create a leadership system that will ensure teamwork with all the staff, both academic and non-teaching staff,” he said.

“We need to redeem the image of this great university.”

Before his new role, Prof Chacha served as Deputy Vice-Chancellor Partnership, Research and Innovations at Maseno University.Maasai Mara University Council has appointed Professor Joseph Sarima Chacha as the new acting vice-chancellor.
